Grafana Azure Ad Redirect URL

When we use Azure AD (Active Directory) as a Grafana authentication provider, we must setup a  URL to route visitors to the relevant page once they have authenticated.

After successfully authenticating, the Azure AD authentication service will redirect visitors to the redirect URL.

grafana azure ad redirect url: Setup

Follow these steps to configure the redirect URL in Grafana:

  1. Firstly, Go to the “App registrations” area of the Azure AD interface after logging in.
  2. After that, Click the “Authentication” option after selecting the Grafana application registration.
  3. Add the URL of the Grafana instance with the “/login/generic oauth” endpoint to the “Redirect URIs” section.

If the Grafana URL is “https://mygrafana.com,” the redirect URL should be “https://mygrafana.com/login/generic oauth”.

  4. After that, save the modifications and then close the Azure portal.
  5. Choose “Auth” from the “Configuration” menu in Grafana.
  6. After that, enter the Azure AD “Client ID” and “Client Secret” in the “OAuth Generic” section.
  7. “Auth URL” set to “https://login.microsoftonline.com/your-tenant-id/oauth2/authorize,” where “your-tenant-id” is the Azure AD tenant ID.
  8. “Token URL” should be set to “https://login.microsoftonline.com/your-tenant-id/oauth2/token”.
  9. After that, change the “Scope” setting to “openid email profile”.
  10. Change the “Redirect URL” to the URL we created in step 3 of the Azure portal.
  11. Finally, save the modifications and then close the Grafana settings menu.

After successfully authenticating with Azure AD, visitors will be routed to the right page in Grafana after the redirect URL has been established.

This will allow them to use their Azure AD credentials to access Grafana, ensuring safe and simple access to the Grafana instance.
