How to Increase Container Disk Size in Proxmox?
Proxmox VE allows a specific amount of disk space for the file system when we build a container. A container’s disk space may need to be expanded over time in order to handle more data or applications. To expand a Proxmox container’s disk size, follow these steps:
1. Firstly, go to the Proxmox VE web interface by opening a web browser.
2. Choose the node (physical server) where the container is running from the left sidebar of the Proxmox web interface.
3. Select the container we want, then click the “Hardware” tab.
4. Find the disk we want to expand in size under the “Disk” section. To choose it, click on it.
5. Click the “Resize disk” button to expand the disk’s size. There will be a dialog box.
6. Type the new disk size in gigabytes (GB). To enlarge it, make sure the new size is bigger than the old one. Additionally, we have the option to resize the file system to automatically fill the entire available space.
7. To make the changes take effect, click the “Resize” button after inputting the new size. The disk size of the container will be increased by Proxmox.
We can log into the container and use commands like df -h to examine the amount of disk space available if we decide to have the file system automatically resize. Now, the file system ought to reflect the bigger size.
