How to Remove Bitnami Banner from Lightsail WordPress Site

You’ve come to the right place if you’re looking for a means to get rid of the Bitnami corner banner on your WordPress site. This bitnami icon banner frequently appears following the installation of AWS Lightsail.

Our AWS Support Team has put together two different ways to solve this issue:

  • Remove Bitnami Banner via SSH
  • Remove Bitnami Banner via CSS

How to Remove Bitnami Banner from Lightsail WordPress Site via SSH

  1. To begin with, log in to the Lightsail console.
  2. Then, head to the Instances tab and copy the public IP address of the instance.
  3. Next, enter the public IP address of the instance in a new tab and press enter. Here, we can confirm whether the Bitnami icon appears on the page as seen below:

  4. After that, return to the Lightsail home page and select the browser-based SSH client icon next to the name of the instance we want to connect to.
  5. Then, enter one of the following commands after the SSH client connects to our instance:
    sudo /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/bnconfig --disable_banner 1 && sudo /opt/bitnami/ctlscript.sh restart apache
    sudo /opt/bitnami/wordpress/bnconfig --disable_banner 1 && sudo /opt/bitnami/ctlscript.sh restart apache
  6. Finally, confirm the process worked by heading to the public IP address of the instance and verifying the Bitnami banner is gone.

How to Remove Bitnami Banner from Lightsail WordPress Site via CSS

Alternatively, we may use the WordPress installation to accomplish the same thing. Let’s take a look at the steps:

  1. First, log in to WordPress and head to Customize under Appearances.
  2. Then, scroll down to Custom CSS and add the following code:
    #bitnami-banner {display:none;}
  3. After that, click Publish.

Although this is a simpler technique, if the code line is removed, the banner will reappear.

According to our AWS Experts, the first method is a better choice as it is more permanent. However, if you are a beginner, the second method will also do the trick.
