TencentDB SQL Server Made Simple
When working with TencentDB SQL Server, most users want direct instructions to connect their data source without spending hours figuring things out. The process is straightforward once you know the exact sequence. Below is a complete guide to adding Tencent Cloud SQL Server as a data source and connecting it with Quick BI for further analysis.
Before You Begin
Make sure these conditions are ready:
- You have already created a Tencent Cloud SQL Server database.
- You have the username and password for the Tencent SQL Server database.
How to Add the Data Source
To add the data source properly, follow this flow:
- Add the elastic IP address (EIP) of the exclusive resource group for Data Integration or the CIDR block of the vSwitch with which the resource group is associated to the IP address whitelist of the data source that the resource group needs to access.
- Then add a Hologres data source and verify that the data source can be connected.
- After logging into the Quick BI console, follow the instructions in the figure provided.
- Go to the Create Data Source page.
- Select the SQL Server data source.
- Choose Tencent Cloud for Data Source Type.
Configure the Connection
In the Configure Connection dialog box, the following fields must be filled carefully:
- Name – The name of the data source. This name will appear in the data source list. It cannot contain special characters or start/end with spaces.
- Database Address – The hostname or IP address of the database you want to access. The SQL Server database is deployed on this public endpoint. Log in to the Tencent Cloud SQL Server console. On the instance details page, open the public endpoint and query it under Basic Information.
- Port – The port number of the database. Default value: 1433.
- Source Database – The database name you want to access.
- Schema – The schema of the database. Default value: dbo.
- Username – The username to access the database.
- Password – The login password of the database.
- SSL – If SSL is configured for the destination data source, enable SSL for data protection.
- Enable the file upload portal – Activate this if you want to upload files later.
- Once all details are set, click Test Connection to check connectivity.
Finally, click OK.
What Happens Next
Once you connect the TencentDB SQL Server data source successfully:
- You can create datasets and begin analyzing data.
- To add a data table in SQL Server or a user-created SQL Quick BI, check the section on Create and manage datasets.
- Then create dashboards and start visualizing results under Create a dashboard and Overview.
