How to install Ioncube loader in Plesk ?

To install or update Ioncube loader on a Windows Plesk server, please follow the steps listed below. In case ioncube needs to be updated, kindly disable and make a backup of the current ioncube loader files. Reversing the changes would be advantageous with this.

1. Firstly, create a php.info page to determine the path of the PHP loaded configuration.
2. Then, go to “http://www.ioncube.com/loaders.php” and download the most recent MSI installer of IonCube Loader.
3. Then, choose the appropriate version of the package (32 or 64 bit). Select the Windows non-TS Loaders package only for Windows systems where the thread safety option is disabled (which can be found from info page).
4. Run the Setup and proceed to the next steps.
5. When the installer asks for the installation type, choose “Install to this machine” and enter the correct plesk php path (say like %plesk_dir%\Additional\PleskPHP5\extensions), where %plesk_dir% is the Plesk installation directory.
6. Then proceed to the next step and finish the installation.
7. Examine the Plesk PHP path for ionCube libraries (.dll files). (It would be in the %plesk_dir%\Additional\PleskPHP5\extensions\ioncube folder.)
8. Then open the respective php.ini files (depending on the PHP version) and add the path to the IonCube Loader’s Library.
9. In the php.ini file, make sure to include the correct php versions and library file. If we’re using PHP 5.4, open the php.ini file and replace the ioncube loader with ioncube_loader_win_5.4.dll.
10. Finally, restart IIS.

Enabling IonCube Loader

IonCube Loader is a critical PHP extension that we can enable for Plesk hosting.

1. Firstly, log in to the Plesk administrator account.
2. Then, from the navigation menu, choose Tools & Settings.
3. Then, click on PHP settings in the General Settings section.

   The complete list of PHP versions will then appear. Please be aware that starting with Plesk 12.5, the Ioncube loader is available with all PHP packages. For the lower versions, the extension must be enabled.
