Prerequisites

1. An Ubuntu 24.04 ARM64 server.

2. Root access or a user with sudo rights.

3. To download the essential software, an internet connection.

Steps to Configure Zabbix Agent on Ubuntu 24.04

1. Update all packages:

bash

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y

2. Install Database Server MariaDB:

bash

sudo apt install mariadb-server -y
sudo systemctl start mariadb
sudo systemctl enable mariadb
sudo mysql_secure_installation

3. Create the database and user:

sudo mysql -u root -p
CREATE DATABASE zabbix CHARACTER SET utf8mb4 COLLATE utf8mb4_bin;
CREATE USER 'zabbix'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'strong_password';
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON zabbix.* TO 'zabbix'@'localhost';
FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
EXIT;

4. Install Zabbix Repository:

5. Install Zabbix Server, Frontend, and Agent:

6. Configure Zabbix Database:

i. Import schema and update configuration:

ii. Update DBHost, DBName, DBUser, and DBPassword fields.

7. Configure Zabbix Frontend by editing Nginx and PHP configurations, then restart services:

8. Start Zabbix Services:

9. Secure with SSL by installing Certbot and configure SSL:

10. Configure Zabbix Frontend by accessing Zabbix through the browser and complete the setup at http://zabbix.example.com/zabbix.

11. Log In to Zabbix: We can use default credentials such as;

Username: Admin
Password: zabbix

12. Adjust Firewall Rules. So, open port 10050 for Zabbix:

sudo ufw allow 10050/tcp

13. In order to add New Host to Zabbix, login to the dashboard, add a new host, and start monitoring.
