Tutorial: How to add VM to backend pool
The backend pool involves a group of resources that serves traffic for a specific load-balancing rule. In fact, it is a critical part of the load balancer. According to our Support Techs, there are two different ways to configure a backend pool:
- IP address
- Network Interface Card or NIC
We have to configure the pool by virtual network ID and IP address in order to preallocate a backend pool consisting of an IP address range that will contain virtual machine scale sets and virtual machines later on.
Some of our customers have been having trouble adding a VM to an Azure Load Balancer. Fortunately, the following steps courtesy of our Support Team works like a charm:
- To begin with, we have to log in to our Azure portal.
- Then, head to the Load Balancers section.
- Next, choose the load balancer we created when we set up the Virtual Machine for the primary data node.
- After that, navigate to Backend pools.
- Then, choose the backend pool we created when we set up the Virtual Machine for the primary data node.
- Next, add the new Virtual Machine to the backend pool’s list of virtual machines.
- Finally, click Save.
The above steps will help us add VM to backend pool Azure without trouble. In case you run into any trouble, our Support Team is happy to get you back on the right track.
