Cloudflare Full Encryption With Plesk

Cloudflare permits HTTPS connections between the visitor and Cloudflare and connects to the origin using the scheme requested by the visitor when the encryption mode is Full. Also connects to the origin using unencrypted HTTP if the visitor utilizes HTTP and vice versa. Other modes of Cloudflare encryption include Off, Flexible, Full, Full (strict), and Strict (SSL-Only Origin Pull).

Ensure the origin permits HTTPS connections on port 443 and presents a certificate before enabling Full mode. Otherwise, a 525 error might be seen by the visitors. We might need to change the settings to prevent Mixed Content errors or redirect loops, depending on how the origin is configured.

Methods To Set Up Cloudflare Full Encryption With Plesk

Method 1

We can use Cloudflare’s SSL certificate with these steps:

  1. Follow Cloudflare’s instructions to create an Origin CA certificate.
  2. Make a copy of the contents of the Origin Certificate and Private Key. Also, copy the root certificate for the Origin CA using Cloudflare instructions.
  3. Go to Domains >> example.com >> SSL/TLS Certificates >> Advanced Settings in Plesk.
  4. Select Add SSL/TLS Certificate.
  5. Name the certificate and proceed to the section Upload the certificate as text, then copy and paste each content block into the appropriate field.
  6. Select the Upload Certificate.
  7. Go to Domains >> example.com >> Hosting Settings. Proceed to the section Security. In the field Certificate, select the certificate we have just created.
  8. Go back to Cloudflare. Under SSL/TLS >> Overview, change the SSL/TLS encryption mode to Full (strict).
Method 2

We can also install a reliable certificate from a trusted source in Plesk, such as Let’s Encrypt.
