AWS PrivateLink

Without exposing the traffic to the open internet, AWS PrivateLink offers private connectivity between virtual private clouds (VPCs), supported AWS services, and on-premises networks. We have to create a VPC endpoint in the VPC, specifying the name of the service and a subnet to use the PrivateLink. As a result, an elastic network interface is created in the subnet that acts as a gateway for traffic headed for the service.

Interface endpoints and Gateway Load Balancer Endpoints are the two types of AWS PrivateLink endpoints available for use. The rate changes depending on the type of endpoint we use.

How to create AWS PrivateLink?

We have to follow the below steps to create an AWS PrivateLink.

1. Firstly, open an Amazon VPC console.
2. Then select Endpoint services in the navigation pane.
3. Select Create endpoint service.
4. Choose Network for Load balancer type.
5. Choose the Network Load Balancers to link with the endpoint service from the Available load balancers.
6. Select Acceptance required for Require acceptance for endpoint option. Now it requires that connection requests to the endpoint service are accepted manually.
7. Select Associate a private DNS name with the service for Enable private DNS name. We can associate a private DNS name that service consumers can use to access the service, and then enter the private DNS name.
8. For Supported IP address types, select either IPv4, IPv6, or IPv4 and IPv6.
9. Select Add a new tag to add a new tag. Then enter the tag key and the tag value.
10. Finally, select Create
