Rewrite rules do not work with OpenLiteSpeed as they do with LiteSpeed Enterprise/Apache. Every domain must have its own.htaccess file, and OpenLiteSpeed must be specifically instructed to load rules from it; otherwise, the file is completely disregarded.

So, for example, suppose we have a master domain at:/home/masterdomain.com/public html. Its.htaccess file is located at /home/masterdomain.com/public html/.htaccess; any.htaccess files in subdirectories are ignored.

So, if we have a child domain beneath the master domain with the route /home/masterdomain.com/public html/childdomain.com, Its rewrite rules will be ignored because OpenLiteSpeed has not been instructed to load rewrite rules from /home/masterdomain.com/public html/childdomain.com/.htaccess.

To address this issue, CyberPanel offers a specialized child domain launcher, which allows us to do the following:

  • Examine the access/error logs.
  • Change the virtual host configurations for the child domain.
  • Change PHP.
  • Add/Delete Rewrite the rules.
  • Add SSL.
  • Turn on/off open basedir protection

Delete child domain with CyberPanel

To delete the child panel with CyberPanel go to the Master Domain launcher. There we can manage the child domain configurations.

Or we can use an alternative method to delete the child domain. With a few clicks, we can erase the child domain from CyberPanel. For this firstly use the credentials to access the CyberPanel. Go to the following URL:

https://<USER-ip/domainname>:8090

Now follow the steps given below to use the CyberPanel to Delete the Child Domain:

  • To delete a child domain with CyberPanel, navigate to Website->List Child Domains on the CyberPanel dashboard’s left menu.
  • A list of all of the subdomains will open to view and manage easily. A delete button can be found beneath each domain. Click the Delete button.
  • A window will open up asking whether we wish to delete the root directory for this child domain or not. If we select this option, then it will remove the Document Root (as well as the files for these subdomains). If we do not select this option, the subdomain will be erased but its files will remain in the file system.
