How to fix ‘Zabbix agent on Zabbix server is unreachable for 5 minutes’ ?
At Bobcares, where we have more than a decade of expertise in managing servers, we see many customers facing this problem while managing Zabbix.
Now, let’s see the major reasons for this Zabbix error and how our Support Engineers fix this.
Incorrect ServerActive address
Recently one of our customers approached us with the same zabbix problem. He said he is getting an alert like the one shown below in his zabbix dashboard.
Our Support Engineers checked and found that the ServerActive address is not changed to zabbix-server IP address in configuration file. So we changed it to Zabbix-server IP.
We made the changes in:
/etc/zabbix/zabbix_agentd.conf
and restarted the service using:
service zabbix-agent restart
This fixed the issue.
Incorrect Host settings
We also handled a situation where the customer was facing the same error. But when checked we found that the SeverActive address was given correctly.
So, we checked further in detail and found that in zabbix panel >> configuration >> Hosts >> zabbix server (as shown in the figure below) section, DNS name was not given as zabbix-agent. So we changed DNS name to ‘zabbix-agent’ and saved.
This fixed the problem. That’s it.
