How to uninstall a plugin in 11.50 and later ?

To uninstall plugins from cPanel and WHM, select the uninstallation method that corresponds to our system’s version. The uninstall plugin script was introduced in cPanel and WHM version 11.50, which eliminates the need to manually remove plugins. When we uninstall our plugin, this file sends information to cPanel’s dynamicui files. This method enables the user to remove a cPanel plugin.

Run the following command to use this script to uninstall a cPanel plugin:

/usr/local/cpanel/scripts/uninstall_plugin plugin_file –theme=theme_name

In this command, plugin_file refers to the plugin installation file (a.tar.gz,.bzip, or.zip file, or an uncompressed directory), and theme refers to the cPanel theme to be uninstalled (paper_lantern or another valid theme on the server). If you do not specify the –theme option and a theme, the script will only try to uninstall the plugin from the Paper Lantern theme. The uninstallation will fail if the compressed plugin installation file does not include an install.json file.

How to uninstall plugin manually in 11.48 and earlier ?

Paper Lantern does not include an uninstall script in cPanel & WHM versions 11.48 and earlier. To uninstall a plugin manually, follow these steps:

  1. Firstly, remove all of the files associated with the plugin we want to uninstall.
  2. Delete the dynamicui_$name.conf file from the /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/paper_lantern/dynamicui/ directory. The $name variable holds the name of the plugin we want to uninstall.
  3. Then, delete the dynamicui_$group.conf configuration file. The $group variable contains the name of the group in which the plugin is located.
  4. Finally, to rebuild the sprites, run the /usr/local/cpanel/bin/rebuild_sprites --quiet script.
