cPanel Reset Bandwidth Usage | How to?

by | Jul 6, 2022

cPanel Reset Bandwidth Usage interface allows changing the allotted bandwidth for an account. Our Support team provides a quick and easy way to reset bandwidth usage

As part of our cPanel & WHM Support Service, Bobcares responds to all questions, small or large.

Let’s take a closer look at Resetting Bandwidth Usage in cPanel.

cPanel Reset Bandwidth Usage

Reset Account Bandwidth Limit: If an account’s bandwidth quota does not match the quota for the account’s package, we can reset the account’s quota using this interface. For instance, if an account’s package includes a 1 GB bandwidth quota, we can change the quota to unlimited to avoid bandwidth limitations. This feature could then be used to restore the account’s quota to the package default, 1 GB.

This interface only displays accounts whose bandwidth value differs from the package default. This feature cannot change the bandwidth cap on an account from the package default.

Limit Bandwidth Usage: To adjust the bandwidth quota to any other value, we need to use the Limit Bandwidth Usage interface. We can modify an account’s allocated bandwidth using this interface. The amount of data that is transferred by the server is measured by bandwidth. For each account on the server, we set appropriate bandwidth limits.

cPanel Reset Bandwidth Usage: Method 1

Now let’s see how to quickly and easily change the bandwidth settings for every cPanel web hosting account set up on the cPanel VPS. So we must use the WHM (Web Host Manager) tool, which is a component of the pre-installed cPanel, to accomplish this.

  • Firstly, access WHM to access the cPanel VPS.
  • Then select the “Account Functions” menu’s “Reset Package Bandwidth” link.
  • Finally, select the required account, then click the Reset to Package Bandwidth Limit button.

cPanel Reset Bandwidth Usage: Method 2

If we prefer to make the changes directly on the cPanel account, we need to edit the cPanel hosting package with these steps:

  • Use WHM to access your cPanel VPS (Web Host Manager)
  • Under “Account Information,” select “List accounts”.
  • From this list, find the account we want to edit, and then click the pencil icon to the right of the user name.
  • Now update the “Bandwidth” field by going to the “Account Limits”.
  • Finally, click the “Save” at the bottom of the page.

The customer we edited won’t hit the bandwidth limit again as a result of the above actions. Otherwise, they need to go over the newly created limit we have set out from within their cPanel configuration.

If we need to reset an account’s bandwidth usage limit to its package default, click Reset to Package Bandwidth Limit for the account that we wish to modify.

Conclusion

Some users require more bandwidth than other users. So it is necessary to set appropriate bandwidth limits for each account on the server. Here our Support team has shown how the cPanel reset bandwidth usage interface allows to change the allotted bandwidth for an account.
