Shopping cart solutions, like Zen Cart, help users to customize their online stores easily.
However, trouble can brew when errors like Zen Cart showing blank page appear!
The reasons could be due to incorrect data uploading, and PHP syntax errors among others.
At Bobcares, we often get requests from our customers to fix Zen Cart errors as part of our Server Management Services.
Today, we’ll see how our Support Engineers quickly diagnose and fix Zen Cart errors.
Why we get a blank page in Zen Cart?
Zen Cart is fully customizable based on client requirements and allows the freedom to host it on any server. Therefore, many customers prefer the Zen Cart to manage their online stores.
However, the admin panel or website displaying a blank page is one of the main problems that often irritates Zen Cart clients. Also, this error can occur after installing, upgrading, or customizing the store.
Now, let’s see the causes of the blank page error and how our Support Engineers fix these errors.
1. Incorrect uploading
Often, many customers request us to find the real reason behind the Zen Cart loading blank screen. Most of the time this error happens due to improper uploading of files to the server.
Many customers prefer to use FTP to upload the data to their website server. However, FTP programs usually timeout when uploading large quantities of files. Then the data uploading will fail and results in blank pages on Zen Cart websites.
Then, our Support Engineers re-upload the data and ensure that there are no errors.
2. Error in configure.php
Recently, one of our customers contacted us with a problem in his Zen Cart. He got a blank page while accessing the Zen Cart admin panel.
On checking, our Support Engineers found an entry in the error log as follows:
PHP Warning: require(/home/content/XX/XXXXXXX/htmlincludes/autoload_func.php) [<a href='function.require'>function.require</a>]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/XX/XXXXXXX/html/store/XXX_Adm2n/includes/application_top.php on line 147
Then, we found that the error happened due to wrong settings in the admin/includes/configure.php
To fix the error, we added a “/” at the end which was missing in the line define(‘DIR_FS_CATALOG’, ‘/home/content/XX/XXXXXXX/html’);
define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/home/content/XX/XXXXXXX/html/');
That solved the problem.
Similarly, PHP syntax error also causes a blank screen or a partially-blank screen in Zen Cart.
