The Eximstats on WHM/cPanel servers use to maintain statistics and information about email messages processed by the Exim mail service.

If the data are not cleared then often enough to have a chance to grow and cause issues with disk space, or MySQL resource usage, as the increased size of the database will cause higher memory and disk consumption.

 

The eximstats_spam_check is a cPanel-provided script that scans the eximstats database and counts the number of emails that every domain on the server sent in the previous hour. The system will log an alert if a domain has exceeded a preconfigured threshold of 500 unique outbound emails.

 

The alerts look like [eximstats_spam_check] The system has detected an unusually large amount of outbound emails. The alert will send to the default email added in the WHM.  We can disable this alert from WHM, follow the simple steps to disable eximstats_spam_check listed below:

 
  • Log in to WHM
 
  • Next, Navigate to Server Contacts >> Contact Manager.
 
  • Then select the “Notification” menu from the Contact Manager page.
 
  • Select the “Large Amount of Outbound Email Detected” option and change to the “Disabled” option from the drop-down box.
 

Disabling eximstats

Sometimes Eximstats consume high resources because the eximstats database tends to grow enormously, if you have high mail traffic. Hence we can completely disable Eximstats from WHM if you don’t require it. Exim statistics can be disabled from WHM or the command line.

 

Further, follow the below steps to disable the Eximstats from WHM:

 
  • Login to WHM.
 
  • Search for Service Configuration >> Service Manager.
 
  • Now Uncheck the clicking“Eximstats” option under the “TailWatch Drivers”.
 
  • Finally, click on the Save button at the bottom to save the changes.
 

From the command line, you can disable the database by running the below command:

/usr/local/cpanel/bin/tailwatchd --disable=Cpanel::TailWatch::Eximstats
